Latest Covid-19 Update - March 2021
Covid Testing at Home
We have sent home Covid-19 testing kits with your child. Each kit contains 3 tests, please make sure your child is tested twice a week 3-4 days apart, in the morning before school if possible and if not the evening before. A good routine would be each Wednesday and each Sunday. Your child should also continue testing twice a week, at home, throughout the Easter school holidays. We will be sending home extra kits before Easter before the term ends. Details of how to take the test are available inside the kits and clear instructions are provided in the Powerpoint ‘Testing at Home’, click here: https://sway.office.com/MZSmWMKkxkMixKpn?ref=Link
If your child has not been tested at school yet, then please contact your child’s Year group team so that we can arrange a time for them to be tested on site, before beginning home testing.
Students/Households with Covid-19 Symptoms
This does not replace testing for those with symptoms. If your child or someone within your household has symptoms of Covid-19, they must book a PCR test: Get a free PCR test to check if you have coronavirus - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) and self-isolate immediately. Please contact your child’s Year team to inform if your child has symptoms or is self-isolating.
Symptoms of Covid-19 include:
- A high temperature
- A new, continuous cough
- A loss or change of your sense of smell or taste
Reporting Test Results
It is really important that all results of tests are reported online straight away, even if your child’s result is negative or void and it’s easy to do. Students can input their results via TestRegister.co.uk by entering their school email address and requesting a login. Students will then receive an email from firstname.lastname@example.org containing a link to TestRegister.co.uk which will allow them to input their results.
Please be aware there is a Step 2 process of reporting a result on TestRegister.co.uk which will redirect students to www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result If you have any issues reporting your result via this method please be aware results can also be reported via telephone by calling 119 (free from mobiles and landlines). Lines are open every day, 7am to 11pm.
The process of how to record your child’s results is clearly outlined in the attached PowerPoint ‘Reporting a Test Result on TestRegister.co.uk', please visit: https://sway.office.com/4h0ImDVD8YqQMLLQ?ref=Link
Further information on reporting test results on TestRegister.co.uk can be found in the following short video https://youtu.be/g0vYVX8JGgY
Testing for Parents, Households and Bubbles Twice a Week
A reminder that regular rapid testing is now available for parents, their households and support of childcare bubbles. The government is encouraging all families to participate in twice weekly testing to help stop the spread.
Parents and other adults in the household can access tests by:
- Ordering tests online: www.gov.uk/order-school-household-tests
- Getting an assisted test at work, if it is available
- Attending a test site to get tested (where you will be able to see how to take the test) or pick up tests to do at home.
To find out more about school household testing visit: Households and bubbles of pupils, students and staff of schools and colleges: get rapid lateral flow tests - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
