On Friday 1st November, our A Level Fine Art Students had a visit from and workshop delivered by portrait artist Alastair Adams. After becoming a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 2002, and taking a place on council shortly after, Alastair became the Society’s Treasurer in 2005. In 2008 he was made President, the youngest in the Society’s 120 year history. In his capacity as President, he continued to build upon the Society's history and strong reputation as a source for high quality, original and inventive world leading portraiture. Alastair was nominated for the British Portrait Award in 2018 and in 2019, Alastair was invited to become a Trustee of the Mall Galleries in London.
Students were lucky enough to participate in a one day intensive Portraiture workshop allowing them to explore working with a range of materials and really study the proportions of the face.
Thank you Alastair for a fantastic workshop, students really engaged with and enjoyed the day and are looking forward to completing their self-portraits this week!
